The rules of survival has a setting that takes place in several different locations in a city, like the condo where Matt and his sisters live with Nikki, their mom, and his aunt lives in the level below them. The setting takes you many different places along the city, like the park, and Murdoch's home. The setting is important because it being a city, it keeps everything close together so they can travel place to place like they do when their mom is out, like to the Cumberland Farms, and Murdoch's house. It also shows how a city mother can get away with the things she does to her children, without someone finding out, that might report her.
The setting of my novel Rules of survival is in different places.It takes palce in Chicago, There's three kids living in a house with their mother who treat them really bad.The setting also takes place in the street and aparments.The setting is important to my novel because it related with the situation which is an understanding mother who takes her anger on her three childrens.She leave the kids in her house by themselfs while she go party with her friends until next day.The kids don't go out alot unless they need food.

They walk to places very often because it's in the city and she gets away with hitting them because none of her neighbors know about and she lives with her aunt. I think what will happen is people start to find out about what she is doing and gets caught. Nikki is not a good person and she'll regret all of this.
The main characters are Murdoch, Matt, Callie and Nikki. Aunt Bobbie is a main character closer to the middle thru the end. Aunt bobbie described Nikki as a selfish self-centered person, and she used to do the same things that she does to the kids, to Aunt bobbie when she was a kid. Nikki is always described, both directly and indirectly as pretty much as the word "Evil." Murdoch plays the 'Hero' or 'Symbol of hope' of the story. Callie at first seems to worry about matt and emmy, but advances into Adolensce and starts to only care for herself or so it seems. Matt is all about saving Emmy and Callie, while looking about himself. He begins to have an obsession with murdoch, or atleast the symbol he represents.
I am on chapter 30 in this book and alot has happened so far. We have learned alot about the characters. Like Matt who is the oldest child and Callie the middle child and Emmy who is the baby of the family. Matt is a boy who is determined to get help for him and his sisters. Caillie is a girl who follows Matt pretty much, they both take care and try to protect Emmy. Emmy is a little girl who isn't afraid of anything, not of what her mother will say or if she gets hurt, just as long as she gets out whats on her mind shes happy. Directly they all try and be safe from their mother and to be on her good side. Inderectly they dont love their mom Nikki, they try to get away from her and say things about her. It shows how much they dont like her. Therefore it is inderectly. These kids just need help and Murcdoch is their only hope. They all know how Nikki is and just want to be safe and sound. Those are pretty much the main characters in this story.
The main character of these story is Matt, The older brother.He's the principal characte also because he's telling the story and how their mom abuse them.Matt is a really good boy but when it gets to talk or say his feelings about hie mom his not really good at it because his mom is really heratless.Another main character of the story is Matt's mom her name is Nikki she's always wearing really tigh and tiny clothes,She has long blonde hair Nikki always use short shirts and light skin. She's also a really wild person all she think is about having fun, going clibing meet new guys and abuse her childrens by hitting them, argue with them mostly of the time with Matt and for no reason. Matthew take care of his to litle sister Callie and Emmy, he cook for them him and Callie who is 12 years old help him clean the house and take care of Emmy who is only 3 years old.
Adam i definatly agree with you and the setting. It's pretty much all over the city. And she will get caught most likely because its a crowded place to be. I bet she will end up getting caught eventually, their aunt Bobbie should report Nikki if she really cared for them.

It can be happening to you, to your friends, members of your family or someone really close from you.
Aunt Bobbie is struggling with the internal conflict of what to do to help the kids. She has all the past experience with Nikki, because nikki used to do the same things to Aunt Bobbie. Nikki used to tortue Aunt bobbie, and blame everything on her, while Nikki was really the wild child. Bobbie is caught in thoughts of what to do, if to help the kids by calling the police, trying to take custody herself. Ultimately, She hopes that maybe Nikki will just stop doing the things she does, and then Bobbie wont have to do anything.
An internal conflict with this story is the kids mother Nikki says she really does love them, but is a pretty crazy person. I feel she can't help the way she is with them and thats just her way of showing them she loves them. Because deep down she does and i believe what will end up happening is she'll get help with her problem because she needs it desperatly. The mood of the story is very unpredictable, because you never know how shes going to act towards them. Some days shes pretty normal but the others she's crazy. The littlest thing will make her go nuts and thats why she needs help and the kids need to be away from her befor they get really hurt.
Lindsay, I agree on your character descriptions, and Emmy is way out of control. I think She is almost the spitting image of Nikki herself since she does thing like praying for Murdoch, just to get Nikki angry. Matt does do anything to protect the sisters, and callie just protects Emmy, while looking out for herself.

And Adam I haven't finished the book yet but Aunt Bobbie seems to be getting more involved in the story and I could see her saving the kids from all this mess of their mother Nikki.
Alex. m Auntie is good chracter because helping to poor people because she is smart and she alway comes to there house and waching the kid who is six years old the little girl ok with that because she ok because she knows that Auntie is nice peorson and i think too that the girl is nice.

I think Emmy is main character in these Story because they talks about her every time and she is the main person in the book because they think she is work-in to make some money and give to there family and she know every day that they are hungry they need more eat to get healthy and not die fast because they want live more. And I think this book is awesome because they talk about stuff that you think that’s true. And thanks to Mrs. Scheller for give to us this book.
robert Clay is having a very bad year because he is alone when his cousin got shot by a black person. And all over the news, magazine, radio, and news report came to ask them, said ‘’everyone should know who knew who kill his cousin when he was shot at 6:30 p.m. the day he got shot''. clay right now is having most days so now the most thing that he hates is the new repoter keep on talking to every single day for about 12 days. the mood in this story is painful, exterme of the death, people are crying on the street all over town.
robert if anyone that clay is going through thought time trying to out of the madnass what has happen when every one wants to know what has happen on the rooftop that night & you must recpted the dead.
